LYTE Aviation founder will present her vision for a next-gen 40-seat eVTOL urban regional aircraft

Founder and CEO of LYTE Aviation, Freshta Farzam, shared her vision for a next-gen 40-seat eVTOL urban regional aircraft. Farzam has a decade of experience in the green hydrogen and aviation sectors and with her new company, fronts a distinctively conventional airframe design for 40 passengers, that will take off and land vertically like a helicopter.

Unlike other next-gen designs involving electric propulsion and heavy batteries, her project will be a tandem tiltwing design with gearing allowing for forward flight and hover. This means that, based on funding, a full-scale prototype could be ready within two years.

Farzam is a graduate of the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg and has been working on her design for the last three years with an expert aerospace team who collectively have about 200 years of aviation experience. By appearing at recent events, like this week’s Arab Aviation Summit in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, the feasibility of her program has gotten her program noticed and gained investor interest.

British aircraft connectivity solutions specialist Inmarsat is an early partner. LYTE has a newly ratified partnership agreement with Inmarsat, one of the largest recognized suppliers of satellite communication services worldwide, granting the company access to advanced communication capabilities that are needed to operate its aircraft in continental airspace and in isolated parts of the world.

Inflight Canada is a leading Transport Canada, FAA and EASA-approved aerospace design organization and inflight specialist. It supports aerospace projects from conception, engineering and integration through to maintenance and manufacturing and will partner LYTE for the reversible cargo modification.

Farzam will present her vision for a 40-seat, heavy h/eVTOL on March 23 in London. It is called SkyBus when in a passenger configuration and SkyTruck as a cargo variant, with a 4.5-ton payload capacity.

She will be speaking at the Helicopter Investor 2023 conference in Kensington. She will give insight on whether heavyweight eVTOLs can be electrified.
